Would you sue the mall/street/gas station/whereever if you dropped your child off without the knowledge to protect themselves? It boils down to "don't get in cars with strangers" When I was 12 my family got the internet. Of course I talked to strangers on it! It made the big world so much smaller and gave me information about the world I never would have had otherwise. However, before I could even get online my parents sat me down and said "No last name, no hometown, no phone number, no e-mail addresses." Being 12 and not thinking my parents knew everything (which I still don't believe 12 years later) I was smart enough to realize that they were mostly right (I didn't see the problem with giving a hotmail address out though :) ) And Look! I'm still in one piece and and thus far never been attacked by an internet predator. I never would have dreamed about meeting some stranger online- I still don't.
