		<description>in my opinion, this is just cynical use of the war state to make gains for france.

france has quite a bit of vested interest in lebanon, much as all past mandated, protectorates or colonies, france still has quite a bit of stronghold on the market. for instance, if you want to start your telco, it better be in sync with france telecom, which in turn will sell you its prefered solutions, and its own services, otherwise you'd have regulatory issues of sorts, difficulties, etc. to maintain the convinience of this situation, it has to has to appeal to the local populance, which probably look up to iran at this point.

the other part of this same greed coin is france's &lt;a href="http://www.kentimmerman.com/2004_03_16chirac-oil.htm" rel="nofollow"&gt;lust for oil&lt;/a&gt;. being friendly to iran would certainly pay off.</description>
