PR WAR

tom sent me this link to a blog that is going into excruciating detail analyzing the abuse of the Qana tragedy (i refuse to call it a massacre) for PR purposes.

he also sent me a couple of links to blogs that are putting together a conspiracy theory, claiming the hezbollah is responsible for making the building collapse. i don't believe these conspiracy theories have any merit, but i don't doubt that the hezbollah is doing its best to gain as much as possible from this event.

like many things in this conflict this is done on both sides (abusing tragedies for PR purposes), and also like many other things the hezbollah is taking it to the extreme and is acting according to a completely different moral code. israel would publish photos of death and destruction, but would never parade bodies of children and pose to cameras trying to generate the most dramatic scene possible.

the palestinians did similar things in jenin a few years back. they actually spread bodies of animals in the debris, letting them rot, and then taking reporters on a "horror tour" with the unbearable smell as an extra spice to the drama.

these things are unbelievable, but true. it goes beyond cynicism. it is just disgusting.

while one of the blogs was out right conspiratist, the other was just pointing to israeli’s ynet newspaper article, which was pointing out a fact - the idf was investigating how come the qana building collapsed 7-8 hours AFTER it was hit by the missile(s). perhaps a more reliable, left-wing newspaper should be looked at. same story.

Tom, after further investegation the IDF published that the building was hit by an Israeli bomb. Maybe it detonated a few hours later because of a malfunction.

Something about proportionate retaliation and Israel’s morality: All those who commented here should put their biased opinions about Israel aside and ask themselves how would their government react in such a case. The basic facts everybody agrees on:

1. HZA is an illegal militia, it’s the armed wing of a political party that sits in the Lebanese government 2. On th 12th of July 2006 HZA raided into Israel across the recognized international border and started shelling Israeli towns.

1. How would the U.S government react if an armed militia that call for its destruction would fire rockets on Huston out of civilian Mexican towns? Would they wait for 3 weeks while american citizens flee and hide in shelters? Would they even try to pinpoint each launcher? Hmmm…my guess is that the U.S. will erase any town where rockets are being launched from within that day, civilians in them or not. am I guessing wrong? Would the U.S. return parts of Texas?

How would any government who has the military capabilities on this earth would react in such a case? So spare us the bullshit and the hipocracy. And I’ll add that the Israeli military is the most humane and moral army in the world. It’s not a cliche.
