following apple's release of the new ipod microsoft provided more information about their coming zune player.

i think i'll wait till its available rather than buy one of the new iPods.
i started writing a post about this a while ago, but dropped it as it was becoming too long, and i’m not into long posts in general.
the basic premise of my post was this: a speculazune on self expression. i argued that zune either has (the speculation part of it) or should have interchangeable faceplates as means for self expression. sure, its nice to have an arms race in tech features, but that is just that - an arms race in tech stuff. this feature or another, the next time the competitor would have it too, and better (hopefully for them). yet self expression makes you, in mind, more attached to your device. no hurry in changing it, and if so, keep the self expression of it and evolve it, probably with the same device type.
they got it right with the 360. i don’t know why, especially given the people at the helm are same, they missed it in zune.
i actually think that in the short-term its about form and horse-power.
put together a slim, 100Gb, connected device and you’ll have a home-run.
and how long before the competition can achieve the same?
